SCEN February 2026 Update
News on the SCEN & CFS Lecture 2026, youth engagement initiatives, the Edinburgh Chinese New Year Concert, Chinese Language Assistant opportunities, and ongoing support for Mandarin education across Scotland.
Edinburgh Chinese New Year Concert 2026
This year’s programme will feature the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra performing alongside Chinese musicians, presenting works by composer Bingyuan Cui, including Dun and Huang and Silk Road Orient. The concert also marks the 40th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Xi’an and Edinburgh, blending Eastern and Western musical traditions inspired by the Silk Road.

The Scotland China Education Network (SCEN) promotes the learning of Chinese language and culture in Scottish schools. We are here to support students and teachers across Scotland to ensure students are able to grasp the many opportunities that studying Mandarin provides.

SCEN’s Learning Zone aims to provide students with articles and resources to support them in their Chinese language learning and wider cultural understanding.

The Teaching Zone offers a range of articles, as well as a password-protected catalogue of resources, for teachers of Chinese across Scotland.
