New bilingual Tang poetry book for young readers
SCEN is delighted to share news of a new bilingual publication, Inked Echoes: Tang Verse for Young Readers – 300 Tang Poems, by Dr Wenguang Shao.
The book presents around 300 Tang Dynasty poems in Chinese calligraphy, alongside the original Chinese text and English translations. It is designed especially for school-aged children and early learners of Chinese culture, but will also be of interest to readers of all ages.
Combining poetry, translation and calligraphy, the volume offers an accessible introduction to one of the most important traditions in Chinese literary culture. Many of these poems are widely known and recited by Chinese primary school students, and remain an important part of Chinese cultural memory.
