East Lothian Piping & Drumming Competition

Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band is the Pipe Band which visited Nanning and performed at the Second SCEN China Youth Summit at Gleneagles: it is now the SCEN Pipe Band!

Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band hosted the second East Lothian Solo Piping and Drumming Competition on Saturday 14th December. The event attracted over 80 entries from across the county in events for piping, snare drumming, tenor drumming and bass drumming and attracted a large number of spectators who took a day off their Christmas shopping to listen to some great music from the growing number of talented young pipers and drummers from East Lothian.

Ben Muir from Preston Lodge High School dominated the piping events winning the 18yr and under March, Strathspey and Reel event, the 14yr and under March event and finishing 3rd in the Piobaireachd event. The Piobaireachd event was won by Preston Lodge pupil Lucy Thomson winning a new trophy in memory of ELPDT Trustee and piobaireachd enthusiast, Martin Lowe who sadly passed away this year.

In the Novice Piping Sam Addis from Musselburgh Boys Brigade Pipe Band took top spot and Olly Skinner from Longniddry Primary School won the Chanter event.

In the snare drumming, Preston Lodge's two World Champions were once again in fine form with Carrie Bain winning the 18yr and under drumming and Blair Logan winning the 14yr and under drumming.

The 18yr and under Tenor Drumming was won by Emma MacDonald From Preston Lodge High School and the 14yr and under tenor was won by Olivia Pryde from Pryde of East Lothian Pipe Band.
