The HSK is a globally run standardised test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers. Whether you are seeking to ensure eligibility for scholarships to study in China or to gain an advantage in the job market or a related academic field, an HSK pass will serve you well. Of course, many learners also simply find an exam to be an excellent source of motivation!

Working with the Chinese Testing Centre (CTI), they are delighted to announce that their Institute will continue to offer opportunities for interested candidates to sit Online HSK (Home Edition) Exams in 2022. The next home edition exam will take place on Saturday, 12 March 2022.

HSK Levels 1-6

HSK Levels 1-6 Explained

HSK is conducted at six levels running from 1-6. Please see the detailed information sheet outlining the examination standard for each level.

HSKK Levels Basic-Advanced Explained

HSK Speaking Test (HSKK) assesses the test takers’ oral Chinese abilities. HSKK consists of three levels, HSKK (Beginner level), HSKK (Intermediate level) and HSKK (Advanced level). HSKK is conducted in a format of audio recording. Please see detailed information for each HSKK level.

New Exam Structure:

Following the new exam structure, candidates taking HSK level 3 and above will also need to take the HSKK exam. i.e.

HSK 3 + HSKK (basic)

HSK 4 + HSKK (intermediate)

HSK 5 + HSKK (advanced)

HSK 6 + HSKK (advanced)

HSK and HSKK Registration

They are introducing a new simple 2-step online registration procedure for HSK and HSKK exam candidates to register for HSK and HSKK exams.

Step One: Register your exams at Chinese Testing International website
Please follow this HSK and HSKK Registration Guide and register your exams accordingly.

Step Two: Make exam payments via the University of Edinburgh’s ePay website.

Note: HSK Online (Home Edition) Exams make Admission tickets and exam reports available through the candidate’s own CTI account. If you have any issues retrieving your admission ticket or accessing the pdf version of your exam report, please contact their exams team directly on info@confuciusinstitute.ac.uk.
