Chinese New Year Business Briefing for Edinburgh

Business Briefing for city-wide celebrations of the Chinese New Year 2022 in Edinburgh

About this event

The business briefing will provide a chance to discuss the plans for the 2022 Chinese New Year programme in the city supported by ETAG and Heriot Watt University’s Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication. It'll provide an opportunity to share ideas, learn more about participating, and help support what has become a feature of the early new year cultural activities in Edinburgh. This year we're keen to build a hybrid event in Edinburgh and beyond.

Context:

Chinese New Year celebrations in Edinburgh have grown in recent years, and in 2022 we are planning an optimistic and responsible citywide celebration, supporting the city’s recovery efforts.

The Year of the Tiger starts on 1 February 2022 and running from 29 January to 13 February, our Chinese New Year campaign will promote local businesses, encourage local exploration and discovery, as well as continue to reinforce the links between Scottish and Chinese culture.

In a nutshell:

* Edinburgh's Chinese New Year Festival will develop a dedicated website and advertising campaign for 2022, celebrating the links between China and Scotland, and targeting local residents, short break visitors (if government travel regulations allow) and our Chinese students and communities.

* The festival will run from 29 January to 13 February.

* A PR and advertising campaign will commence in January 2022.

* Cultural venues, tourism, hospitality and retail businesses are encouraged to submit installations, display, real life (COVID safe) and/or virtual events and promotions for inclusion in the online listings. Listings are completely free! For inspiration, see below.

* The first deadline for supplying your information is: 10 Jan 2022.

* Please note that only CNY/China/Tiger themed events and promotions will be considered for inclusion.

The Year of the Tiger Festival is coordinated by ETAG’s China Ready Initiative and made possible by the generous support of Heriot Watt University’s Scottish Confucius Institute for Business and Communication.
