"Doing Business with China: A Chinese Perspective"
Professor Yang Guoqing, former Vice Minister, Civil Aviation Administration of China
Please join us for the first lecture in our 2015 Business Lecture Series. We are delighted to have secured Professor Yang Guoqing, Former Vice Minister and Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Prof Yang Guoqing has extensive experience of engaging with international companies as both regulator and customer when, as Vice Minister and Deputy Administrator of CAAC, he worked to develop a 21st century airport and aviation infrastructure across China. The lecture will focus on his view of the Chinese market and discuss how foreign companies should engage with China. This talk will be in Chinese with sequential translation.
The venue for this lecture is Royal College of Surgeons, King Khalid Building, Hill Square, EH8 9DR. A networking drinks reception will follow after the talk and Q&A session.

"Where have all the villages gone?"
Professor Wang Ban, Stanford University
The fourth scholar in our 2015 Distinguished Lecture Series is Wang Ban, William Haas Professor in Chinese Studies and a board member of the Confucius Institute at Stanford University.
In China, "home sweet home" would refer to a village rather than a city. This talk shows that the Chinese village, a source of nostalgia and memory, undergoes decline and rebirth in the midst of China's pursuit of modernization and urbanization. During the lecture, Professor Wang will discuss changing stances and sentiment toward village culture and rural landscape.
The lecture will take place in Lecture Theatre 2, University of Edinburgh Business School, 29 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh EH8 9JY. A networking drinks reception will follow on from the talk and Q&A session.
