Yan Lianke - A Master of Chinese Literature, Book Festival 27 August 20:30-21:30

We are very fortunate to be able to invite one of China's renowned novelists, Yan Lianke, winner of two of China's most prestigious literary honours, the Lu Xun and the Lao She prizes, to this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival.

At his first UK Festival visit, Yan will launch his new book The Day the Sun Died. Typically satirical, His novel skewers the optimism of President Xi Jinping's 'Chinese Dream' as hero Li Niannian tries to persuade the reluctant sun to rise again.
