SCIBC - Heriot-Watt: Chinese New Year - The Ballad of Mulan


We are delighted to inform you that SCEN is supporting the promotion of The Ballad of Mulan at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, in collaboration with SCIBC – Heriot-Watt.


A show not to be missed – The Ballad of Mulan. Enjoy a range of Chinese cultural activities before the performance, starting from 3:15pm.

Don't miss this fantstic show at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh - Woman, warrior, Legend. For ten years Mulan disguised as a man, has fought for the Chinese Empire. Now the fighting is coming to an end, one last battle and she will be going home – but can she return to her old life, become a woman again. A search for identity in a violent world.

From the team behind Edfringe Sell-Out 'The Unknown Soldier' Grist to the Mill and working in collaboration with British-East-Asian theatre company Red Dragonfly, we bring you the real Chinese heroine that inspired Disney’s animation and live-feature Mulan

  • Pre-show Cultural Experience: 3:15 pm Experience the beauty of Chinese culture through live demonstrations of traditional calligraphy and music performed with authentic Chinese instruments. Our cultural team will showcase the art of brushwork and share the elegant sounds of classical Chinese music. Guests can also enjoy complimentary Chinese tea throughout the event. Join us for a relaxed and engaging cultural experience celebrating these timeless tradition. - Mascots can be purchased on the day - £3.50 (card payment only) with all proceeds donated to RBGE
