Confucius Institute General Manager Position Available

The Confucius Institute for Scotland at the University of Edinburgh will lose its superb General Manager at the end of this month, when Frances Christensen retires. Frances has done so much over so much years to support Scotland's relations with China. Great thanks, Frances, and our warmest wishes for the Next Phase!

Thus the following vacancy within the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, is now available.

 Confucius Institute General Manager

The Confucius Institute for Scotland (CIS) in the University of Edinburgh is a national centre to promote educational, economic, and cultural ties between Scotland and China. Set up with Sino-Scottish Government backing and partnered with Fudan University in Shanghai, the centre was established under an initiative taken by Hanban - the Chinese Government department responsible for promotion of Chinese language overseas.

Accountable to the Institute Director, the General Manager is responsible for finance, operations, marketing and staff, as well as originating the Institute's extensive and varied programme of events and external partnerships of national and city wide agencies.

This is a high profile, senior position, where the postholder is expected to represent the Institute. The position is pivotal to management, continuity and leadership within the Institute. This is a full time (35 hours per week), open ended post.

Salary: £50,618 to £56,950 per annum.
