Spring Intensive Courses in Business Chinese for Beginners and Post Beginners running in April and May this year:

Spring Intensive Course - Business Chinese for Beginners

Two week intensive beginners course for students wishing to learn about business Chinese

This course runs from 20 April to 1 May, each day will start at 9.30am and end at 4.45pm This course requires no prior knowledge in Chinese and it aims to provide you with a basic knowledge of the Chinese economy, aspects of contemporary Chinese human relations and behaviour. It will also provide you with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language that is used commonly in the business environment and how to read simple business documents in Chinese. By the end of the course, students are expected to have mastered 70-80 commonly used Chinese characters and will know how to use some very simple Chinese expressions.

Each day the classes will begin with a Language Class, followed by a Cultural Class. Examples of what the cultural classes will include are painting, traditional tea ceremony or embroidery. You will then break for lunch, in the afternoon there will be language practice tutorials followed by either China through Films or a Chinese Music workshop.

The classes will be held in the Confucius Institute Offices based in the Post Graduate Building of Heriot Watt University.

The student rate for this course is £75 and normal rate is £100

Spring Intensive Course - Business Chinese Post Beginners

Two week course for students who wish to improve their business Chinese

This course runs from 11 May to 22 May. 9.30am until 4.45pm and will build on your knowledge of Chinese language and also your knowledge of the Chinese economy, aspects of contemporary Chinese human relations and behaviour. It will also expand your basic knowledge of Chinese language that is used commonly in the business environment and how to read simple business documents in Chinese. By the end of the course, students are expected to have mastered 140-160 commonly used Chinese characters and will know how to use more complex Chinese expressions.

Each day the classes will begin with a Language Class, followed by a Cultural Class, this will include Taichi and Chinese brush painting. You will then break for lunch, in the afternoon there will be language practice tutorials followed by either Chinese used when travelling in China, business etiquette, Chinese festivals and customs.

The classes will be held in the Confucius Institute Offices based in the Post Graduate Building of Heriot Watt University.

The student rate for this course is £75 and normal rate is £100
